Course Description/Objectives:     This course is an elementary introduction to axiomatic algebra.  It begins with the postulates covering the fundamental operations on natural numbers and carries on a logical development through all of the real numbers.  It includes the solution of equations through quadratics.

 

SLOs:

1.       Students will solve a quadratic equation by method of factoring.

2.        Given a linear equation in standard form, students will:

a.        Write the equation in slope-intercept form

b.        Determine the slope

c.        Determine the y-intercept

d.        Graph the equation

 

Prerequisite:    Successful completion of Math 112 / Math 110 or acceptable level of skill as demonstrated in the mathematics placement process.
